While we may have gotten a treat when a song off Nas' upcoming album leaked Monday, but today brings familiar news.
The new album "N""ger" has been pushed back for the 4th time for a myriad of reasons. Originally the delays were because "the album wasn't finished", but nowadays it seems more like politics. Def Jam is receiving outside pressures to change the title of the album before it's released.
According to Def Sounds.com the new release date is July 1st. Maybe the label is waiting for all the buzz and excitement to die down, because it's just about gone already.
What a way to sell records. Go Team!

Something fishy going on. See that is why I do not understand all these politics from music release dates. This is the same insanity that singer Maxwell has been going through (check articles from soulbounce.com). I wish the truth would be revealed because every time some inside information gets leaked like this all of us become suspect. Appreciate you educating us as always! Hmm..you think this is being done to hype the album even more so many people would go out and buy it? We will see?! The buzz has been create now just deliver the product!!

No.... I was being sarcastic.. .Originally in December/January this album had a HUGE buzz... everyone wanted to hear it. But it's been delayed so many times that the interest is dying out.
I can't help but believe that the label WANTS the interest to die down, so they won't have so much controversy and attention to combat when this hits the streets. They want to "sneak" it onto the shelves.... but thats just my theory, not a fact.

I actually agree with you because I am not interested anymore in hearing about this Nas album. If the title is being changed then I wonder if the content of the album is being re-worked.
Further, is there really an album or is this a ploy to get people to still have an interest in Nas? I do appreciate Nas but his label is truly driving us all apart. I wonder when his contract is up. He needs to just leave the label and go independent.Tired of these major label games.

Thats exactly what Ice Cube has done. He's not signed or affiliated with any major label, and he releases his album as he pleases without worrying about what the men in suits have to say.
His last album "laugh now, cry later" was totally independent with no major distribution, and he paid for the videos with his own money.
Thats the only way to truly ensure your artistic vision remains pure these days.

If you are big enuf already, there isn't much need for the machine. He should give Sony a different, "safe" record and take this record and self release.
