MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Artist:

Everyone feeling uncomfortable yet? Cool. That's the effect Nas says he's going for on his new album. This is the first song to leak from his controversial (and much delayed) album.

The last word we've gotten from L.A. Reid was that the album will be released in "May or June". However, keep in mind this has been delayed repeatedly for the last four months.

Strictly from a fan's perspective, I like this song but I'm expecting better material from the album. Given the amount of attention this project is getting, Nas can't simply turn in a "good album". It has to be amazing, it has to be important, and it has to warrant the amount of controversy it's started.

Thanks to The Smoking Section for the track!

Thank you, MrFrost. I thought the album was going to be out in February. I am anxious to get it despite what some people want to say about it. Nas has risen to the occasion always in teaching, educating and sharing. I have been following him since the beginning of his career for I have his first album on cassette tape. However, I do agree with you on this track. Hmm..I hope this is being re-worked to a certain extent.

"To all my kike niggas, spic niggas, guinea niggas, chink niggas, wouldn't ya wanna be a nigga too" Wow, Nas is definitely pushing the boundaries of what's considered socially acceptable. But I can see the point he's trying to get across, that these are just words & can be used in positive context as well as the usual negative context. Not sure that his younger audience will be able to make that distinction. I hope I'm wrong though.

August,

How can we expect the kids are going to be able to make that distinction when we hardly can?

The only way i've been able to get past the whole concept of the album and its potential lyrical content..has been to break down the so called n word, to its root word, which is negus-which means king. So, I'm definitely expecting more from Nas' new album, (King).
