Prosecutors are seeking permission to use past crimes as evidence in his child molestation trial. Among them is his 1995 marriage to pop star Aaliyah, who was 15 when she and R. Kelly wed. Both camps denied the marriage ever took place, but Vibe magazine dug up a copy of their marriage license (which falsely said Aaliyah was 18).
The prosecutions motion to introduce this discussed in a two hour closed door meeting with Judge Vincent Gaughan. Jury selection for the trial is set to begin on May 9th.
