Today Apple announced they have surpassed Wal Mart as the America's number one supplier of music. I bet in the year 2000, Wal-Mart execs would have laughed you out of the room if you told them a retailer with no physical presence would outsell them before the decade was over.

"We launched iTunes less than five years ago, and it has now become the number one music retailer in the world," said Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of iTunes. "We are thrilled, and would like to thank all of our customers for helping us reach this incredible milestone."

It only goes to show how the music business missed the boat on the digital age...They didn't just miss the boat either, they missed the cab on the way to the dock where the boat was. Kinda painful..and hilarious at the same time.
