You'd be hard pressed to visit any hip hop blog right now and not see a post about this new Lil Wayne condom ad. The man who was heavily criticized for kissing another guy on the lips now appears in a compromising position in the new ad. The "Strapped Condoms" poster shows Lil Wayne bent over a car while grimacing, and a police officer directly behind him. The very fact that this is causing a firestorm of ridicule from fans is proof that homophobia in hip hop is seriously out of control.
“In the midst of this crisis where HIV & AIDS is the #1 killer where our race of people is concerned, I salute Lil Wayne as an authority figure for taking a stand to inform our people to use Strapped Condoms & to Stay Strapped for Life,” said J. Price, creator Stay Strapped Condoms and Rap-A-Lot Records.

Ummm...yeah...kudos for encouraging people to use condoms, but...lol...that picture is funny as hell! I mean, that couldn't have been an accident. If dude doesn't look like he's takin' it up the ass...I don't know. That's fuckin' hilarious!
"Go down strapped"
Go for it, Wayne.

Well, you know, I've heard there are alot of downlow brothers who like it both ways, hehe. More power to him! And it is fuckin' hilarious Troy. It's about time someone added some humor to condom ads.

Silver Lining: Maybe this little faux pas will finally make him stop sipping the syrup.
Side Note: This ad would never make me want to buy condoms. I don't think any condom advertisement showing only two men would make me want to buy that brand. Really. Who was the marketing genius behind this one? Maybe it's a fake.

lol...I was just reading a post on another blog that brought up a good point. There isn't anything in this picture that signifies the guy is a cop. It's just an old white guy with Wayne bent over. LOL...GAWD I hope this is a photoshop job.

Um, yea, I'm thinking it's a joke too, cause what rapper in their right mind(or any mind) would do something like that? There's still a hell of a lot of homophobia in the hip hop world even though there's a hell of a lot of homoerotic imagery in hip hop vids as portrayed in that cartoon above that Troy posted. But I hope that ad isn't a joke cause there needs to be more openness towards promoting safe sex WHEREVER it happens & with whomever it happens between, ya know what I mean?

I don't think it's a homophobia thing. I'm definitely not a homophobe, but I still wouldn't have let a picture of me like that fly. And, in the world of advertising, little subliminal shit like that is done purposely. So, either Wayne is trying to come out of the closet, or somebody set him up bad. And I'm all for promoting safer sex, but something like this is just going to backfire.

I wasn't saying that you were homophobic Troy. But in the hip hop world there are many rappers who are as well as in the hip hop community. What do you think that cartoon you posted was pointing out? That there is plenty of homoerotic imagery & lyrics in rap songs even though there's plenty homophobia that abounds in hip hop.
