Al Green's Duets Album Turning Out Like 'Fresh Cream'
-
Artist:
Soul legend Al Green preparing a duets album with the hottest soul singers of the new generation, with ?uestlove of The Roots in the producers chair for the album. The disc was originally supposed to be released early this fall, but the date has been pushed back to early 2008. Green has already finished over a dozen songs with The Roots, and hopes to record more within the next 3 months.

"It's turning out to be like fresh cream, man, like fresh milk from the cow's titty, baby," Green told Billboard.com. "We wrote these songs right off the (studio) floor and cut 'em right there that same day.
You heard the man! Fresh like it's straight out of a cows teat, how could you not want to hear this?
"It's the Roots band playing the music, producing the music, and they let Al sing what he sings and sing with these other people," he continues. "I've never heard anything quite like it, 'cause I've never had anybody produce me other than Willie Mitchell. And when you give these young kids a shot at it, it's interesting to see the art they make. It's beautiful."
Don't expect any rapping on the album though, it's strictly soul with collabs from the likes of Anthony Hamilton, D'Angelo and possibly Alicia Keys.
Green is currently touring with B.B. Kings blues festival.
