The Superbad Soundtrack Will Be Super Funky

Although the film about two teenage white kids, the soundtrack for the film SuperBad will feature Soul, Funk, and Blaxploitation music. Musical heavyweights such as The Roots, Bootsy Collins, Clyde Stubblefield, John “Jab’o” Starks, Phelps “Catfish” Collins, and Bernie Worrell. Fans will be able to pick it up in stores on August 7th, while the film debuts a little over a week later in theaters.
Superbad composer Lyle Workman spoke a little about the creation of the soundtrack on the official myspace page, "Everyone loved the juxtaposition of these two white high school kids and this funky music; it just worked on a myriad of levels. It was imperative that the original music be as authentic as possible in order to sound as soulful and greasy as the songs and score music that had been temped in as inspiration. This path toward authenticity dictated that we involve the musicians who were the originators and innovators -- the most influential names synonymous with Funk."
