Snoop, Missy Elliot, Whodini To Receive VH1's Hip Hop Honors

Posted over 2 years ago
It's hard to believe its been 15 years since a shy 19 year old Snoop Dogg burst onto the hip hop scene in the early 90s. Since his debut he has morphed into a bonafied international superstar, complete with banishments from various nations. VH1 didn't let a couple of denied visas stop them from paying homage to the D-O double G. Snoop will join Missy Elliot and Whodini as the 2007 inductees into hip hop honors.

The fourth edition of VH1's Hip Hop Honors will air on October 8th, with comedian Tracy Morgan hosting the show. This years awards is being billed as "a celebration of players who broke new ground and pioneered the genre into a true cultural phenomenon.” Teddy Riley and Andre Harell, who ushered in the New Jack Swing movement in the 90s will also be paid tribute to. The event will be taped in the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York on October 4th.
In addition to the show, VH1 is holding a contest to locate the next big hip hop producer. Beatmakers are encouraged to enter a 60 second sample of what they can do to the Vh1 website, and the winner will be tapped to score the ceremony with their music. http://www.vh1.com/shows/events/hip_hop_honors/_2007/the_score/
