$3 million eBay Auction For Giant Record Collection Voided
The *"Worlds greatest record collection":http://mog.com/MrFrost/blog_post/145900* which fetched a $3 million dollar bid on eBay will be back on the market soon, due to account fraud. Paul Mawhinney's archive of six million recordings was won by eBay user "jopsoup", who is claiming someone hacked into his account and placed the bid without his knowledge. The user says he found out about the $3 million dollar purchase under his name while checking his email at an internet cafe.
The archive owner Mawhinney has since given up on public eBay auctions, to ensure he can properly screen potential buyers. This could turn out to be a blessing in disguise, considering Mawhinney originally wanted tens of millions of dollars for his library. The $3 million dollar fraud on eBay allows him to seek a higher price from other parties.
