Beanie Sigel Sentenced To 1 Day In Jail

Beanie Sigel was sentenced to 1 day in jail today after being found guilty of violating his probation. Sigel took a trip to Atlantic City without permission, and also had contact with a convicted felon, both of which were against his terms of release.
While one day in jail may not seem so bad, Sigel's probation was supposed to end in February, but has now been extended by a year and a half. The first six months of his newly extended probation will be served in a halfway house, which means he can't promote his new album The Solution. Sigel could have been sent back to prison for over six months, so this new punishment can be bad or good depending on how you choose to look at it.
"I'm human, but I'm working on my mistakes," Baanie told Judge Surrick. Beanie marched with Bill Cosby in an anti-violence rally just weeks ago and spoke with schoolchildren about life choices. That may have aided him in avoiding a stiffer penalty.
"If they're looking at you as a role model, you've got to do the right thing," Surrick said.
