Former American Idol winner Ruben Studdard has been dropped by J Records. After experiencing an initial surge of success following his run on the popular reality show, Studdard's popularity gradually declined. His debut album Soulful went platinum, his follow up I Need An Angel went gold, but his last album The Return barely moved 200,000 copies.
Studdard has recently tried his hand in theater, starring alongside Robin Givens in "Heaven I Need A Hug", and will also play Jazz great Fats Waller in a national theatre tour of "Ain't Misbehavin'."
