Kelis Dumped From Jive Records

While her husbands career is as strong as ever, Kelis is having a little bit of difficulty finding a stable home in the music industry. Nas' wife Kelis has been dropped by Jive Records after releasing just one album for their company. Kelis had already been on two other labels while recording with Pharrell's Star Trak imprint but they soon parted ways. Her 2006 album Kelis Was Here wasn't a very big hit with the fans, and the rest is history.
"It was a case of being in the ever-shrinking world of the record industry and finding herself on a label she wasn't signed to and without a champion," Kelis' manager, Jeff Rabhan told EW. "She's a different kind of artist - very image and style-driven. It's either something you get or you don't."
Kelis may be shopping for a new recording home soon, "We're not opposed to another major label deal, but it would have to be non-traditional," Rabhan said.
