Mya's Album Liberation Shelved Indefinitely
-
Artist:
With the record business in shambles right now, there are bound to be casualties of war. R&B star Mya isn't the first, and definitely won't be the last. Her latest album Liberation "was originally slated to be released in June":http://mog.com/MrFrost/blog_post/60093, then was pushed back to September, and now finally has been shelved indefinitely. Megastars like Beyonce and Rihanna have become multi-faceted media darlings, with acting, endorsement deals, and singing. The rest of the pack hasn't been so fortunate.

Mya spoke with SOHH about her take on the business side of things recently:"We're at a different state in music as well as entertainment as well as the economy right now," Mya explained. "It's based on finance. It's based on marketing and promotions which are essential to get your product out there to be heard. I think what albums are becoming now are promotional items for other opportunities, but you have to be a multi-faced, multimedia artist to take advantage of those things. Not just a singer, but a model. Not just a model, but an actress. Not just an actress, but a dancer. Not just a dancer, but a musician."
Universal/Motown has no timetable for a release date announcement for Liberation.
