Hi. Today is Tuesday, April 28th, Obama's 99th day in office and also an exciting time for music.
I got a friend request on MySpace from a music group called "Lonely London Lad's Dick and Jane" who found me because I'm a friend of Amanda Palmer. They told me I would like their music if I like hers. I like hers and I like theirs as well. They aren't the same music but they are a British group with a nice mellow, interesting sound. It's eerie, spacey and it's sound can be related to the stereotypical fog encompassing London. It's bass lines are the strong points of the group. The vocals are interesting and cool. It's definitely a unique sound and I can dig them. The group is Lonely London Lad's Dick and Jane
There's a few album releases coming up that most people will be looking forward to and I don't blame them. Eminem's Relapse comes out May 15th. His music's alright. I think for a white boy he's got something to say. His music is political which has an advantage to listening and his beats are good. I think his new stuff is definitely a development of the Shady persona he created. It branches off his make-fun-of-everyone behavior and you-don't-like-me-I-don't-care attitude which is definitely something to get inspired by. I, for one, am looking forward to it.
June 23rd, Lil Wayne's rock album will be released. That's what's up. I saw him live after Carter 3 came out and he had a full band behind him. When he was touring with like some rock band a while back they taught him how to play guitar even though the one time he brought the guitar out during the concert, he didn't play it. It was just for looks. I don't know how much musician comes out of Lil Wayne and is being released with this record but the band behind him really rocked out and was a good complement to Lil Waynes music. I can't wait for this record to come out and I love when rock and rap are married together. It's beautiful. The album will be called Rebirth (everyone seems to be re-ing up everything, huh?)
On top of that, Green Day's follow-up to American Idiot will be released the same day as Shady's Relapse, 21st Century Breakdown. That's going to be awesome. All the critics are saying only positive things and people are actually shocked by the explicit lyrics. It's more epic than American Idiot, and this album's going to kick so much ass. It's going to be so punk, more so than American Idiot which I didn't think was. It's going to be about the century so far and these two characters who are living in it, like a story. It's got three acts that have positive and negative attitudes about the state of things so far. Damn. I can't wait.
