MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Wait, you mean I've gone through and done some little things about all of these new CD's (and some old) but I've neglected Mae? Whoa there hoss. One of my most favorite bands of all time and, I've yet to drool over them?

Alright, so this is their most recent release (though they're almost done with the new one rumor has it). I first heard Mae over the speakers at an H&M in Boston and fell instantly in love. "Summertime" off of their 2003 Destination: Beautiful release became my anthem. I bought the album soon after and fell in love with their sound. Think Juliana Theory but softer and better produced. They have this amazing production quality which carries in and out of studio.

When they released The Everglow I had my doubts. Would it be as good as the old Mae? I had heard stories but I gave it a go. Once I got over the "intro" and "outro" songs (they're chimey like children's books, 'please turn the page now ding') I came to see what great musicians they're growing into.

Their writing skills are amazing (lyrically there's some poetic moments) and their musical quality only got better on this most recent release and I have to admit I wasn't in love with it first listen, but after a moment or two? I can't get these songs out of my head. The way his voice carries is amazing.

To me Mae is one of the most underknown bands. I think that if the majority of the public knew of them, they'd adore them. But because most people don't, they haven't gotten a ton of radio play. This is the sort of band that will take off instantly on radio and will deserve all of the fame they get.

I just wish they'd post their tour schedule.

For reals?! So jealous. You have no idea. Every show I've been to has been so fun (from having people ejected based off of the crowd's vote to sing alongs). They seem so down to earth and amazing (and yes I'd have all of their babies).

I agree. "The Everglow" is pure music-bliss. This popular rock band won its fame while touring relentlessly from 2003-2005 and making one heck of a sophomore release, The Everglow. Oddly enough a few distant family members in the midwest like mae because of their track "We're So Far Away." A very unlikely pick, but great nonetheless.

So happy to see others are addicted to MAE! Mae is the entire reason I ended up with a stupid myspace ~~ I missed them playing a show here in town (they aren't played on any local stations) and I flipped out ... the very next day, I had a myspace and they were and will remain one of my top friends. I'm looking forward to how they evolve on the new cd, Singularity. The sampler that is already being played on whatismae.com, Brink of Disaster, is really good! I'm stoked about seeing them play in Sept!!!! myspace has paid off!!! LOL
