Wait, you mean I've gone through and done some little things about all of these new CD's (and some old) but I've neglected Mae? Whoa there hoss. One of my most favorite bands of all time and, I've yet to drool over them?Alright, so this is their most recent release (though they're almost done with the new one rumor has it). I first heard Mae over the speakers at an H&M in Boston and fell instantly in love. "Summertime" off of their 2003
Destination: Beautiful release became my anthem. I bought the album soon after and fell in love with their sound. Think Juliana Theory but softer and better produced. They have this amazing production quality which carries in and out of studio. When they released
The Everglow I had my doubts. Would it be as good as the old Mae? I had heard stories but I gave it a go. Once I got over the "intro" and "outro" songs (they're chimey like children's books, 'please turn the page now *ding*') I came to see what great musicians they're growing into.Their writing skills are amazing (lyrically there's some poetic moments) and their musical quality only got better on this most recent release and I have to admit I wasn't in love with it first listen, but after a moment or two? I can't get these songs out of my head. The way his voice carries is amazing. To me Mae is one of the most underknown bands. I think that if the majority of the public knew of them, they'd adore them. But because most people don't, they haven't gotten a ton of radio play. This is the sort of band that will take off instantly on radio and will deserve all of the fame they get.I just wish they'd post their tour schedule.
