WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

Bob Dylan

Posted 7 months ago

If there ever was a time for Mr. Dylan's perspective...it's now!

Adapting to the speed of change these days is a constant upgrade continuum.

It's always refreshing taking the time to listen to words of true wisdom by one of Americas most respected philosopher/poet/songwriter/political activists.

I love how Moggers are so tuned in to the music. The way Moggers seem to take the time to actually listen to songs and THEN form an opinion is a reminder of hope to me. America has culture, I am sure of it. The music is so important to us and so huge...I feel that sometimes I just forget...

So PLEASE....

keep on MOGGIN' !

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

Hmmmmmmm...... You hear the tea baggers are talking about a secession from the "union"?

On MSNBC, hosts Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow have been tittering over the similarity of the name "tea parties" to an obscure homosexual sexual practice known as "tea bagging." Night after night, they sneer at Republicans for being so stupid as to call their rallies "tea bagging." Every host on Air America and every unbathed, basement-dwelling loser on the left wing blogosphere has spent the last week making jokes about tea bagging, a practice they show a surprising degree of familiarity with. Except no one is calling the tea parties "tea bagging" -- except Olbermann and Maddow. Republicans call them "tea parties."

\ Because republicans are hypocritical idiots at this point in time.

Reel big fish is ska rockin happiness!

That's cool. They are hella funny live, too.

As far as this part of thread:

    (sigh)

    >>>>I don't agree... He is a scapegoat at this point. He hasn't had enough time, really, to measure up to the last 8 years of hypocritical republican politics. Give him time, though...and folks will be able to pin it all on him. It happens to every president, me thinks. The funny part to me is that the republican party couldn't wait to throw Bush loads of tea bags into the rivers of Babylon...

btw...I really appreciate you having this discussion with me. It's nice to know folks care about our future, regardless of bias, you know what I mean?

I sure do.  Civil discourse is the lifeblood of representative democracy.  (although calling all Republicans idiots & hypocrites hardly qualifies as civil discourse......i heard the smile in your words & I didn't sense any real bile)

Did you ever see The Coyote & The Sheepdog in the old Bugs Bunny Show?  Fighting to the death until their shift is over, and then they clock out (and probably have a beer together)?  That's how I feel about political debates/discussions.....but I have to watch out....some folks......can't handle it.  lol
