WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

80s

Posted over 3 years ago
I have gone on the hugest 80s kick, recently. I've always identified myself with the 80s, even though I was really a 90s teen and the highest I got was junior high during the 80s. I was exposed, though, and young enough that what I _was_ exposed to has indelibly marked me. I still have Dexy's Midnight Runners, Fine Young Cannibals, The Clash and New Order with 5-star songs in my library. (good lord, I just realized how UK all those bands are). "LadyC":http://mog.com/LadyC mentioned John Hughes films in an earlier post, and I was thinking to myself about how those films were such a big part of my adolescence, when it occured to me that I _wasn't_ an adolescent when I saw those movies - I was in grammar school. I'm not "John Hughes":http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088847/ I'm "Phil Joanou.":http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094138/

  1. LadyC says exactly, we are defo coming from the same place! "A naked blonde walks into a bar with a poodle under one arm and a two foot salami under the other. She lays the poodle on the table. Bartender says, 'I suppose you won't be needing a drink.' Naked lady says-- "OOHHHH Shiit!!"

  2. Sidney says I was a late 80's teen but was always much more into the early 80's scene at the time. I think I missed my perfect timing by 5-10 years growing up.

  3. lemontwist says I was 6 when the 80s ended, but I still love watching John Hughes movies and listening to 80s music. :)

  4. fontgoddess says And then there's me. I started 1st grade in 1989. The only specifically '80s moment I remember is watching the Berlin Wall getting torn down on the news.
