  1. dachmo says I've never seen that video before. I had tickets to go see them in Manhattan at the old Ritz but there was a big snowstorm that day and it would've been impossible getting in let alone back. They of course played that night so I lost out entirely, no make up show like I hoped for.

  2. ivylander says I think I may have seen that show, dachmo. It started out very strong, but they didn't have enough material for an actual set, so they started...jamming. Misstee, Mrs. Ivylander and I used to bop around the apartment to this song, except we used to sing "Flies, flies, flies, yeah...." I guess you had to be there....

  3. sommer face says Ahh..the memories. My friends and I were high while watching VH1 Classic (when it too, showed more videos than shows) and laughed so hard at the video. I love the 80's.

  5. Misstee says Ivy - This band has the distinction of being my first concert - it was all downhill from there!

  10. Mike the Knife says Fuh-nee, Misstee. Always think of "Lies" when someone invokes the Twins. But let us not forget the techno-schmaltz of "Hold Me Now."

  11. Misstee says 'Hold Me Now' is overwrought and overplayed...to this day I still can't listen to the entire song.

  12. Mike the Knife says To be honest, I have a tough time getting through "Lies," too. Even back in the day, these guys struck me as being on the bogus side. Poseurs, if you will. As humorous quasi-nostalgia? No prob.

  13. Misstee says I would venture to say that most of the New Wave bands were poseurs - part and parcel of the whole Genie gig.

  14. Mike the Knife says Point taken. I try to not hold it against the ones I still like.

  15. Misstee says I'm assuming none of the New Romantics would be on that list.....

  16. Mike the Knife says Well, I wouldn't want to fade to gray...
