Dilemma...

Posted over 4 years ago
So I'm debating whether or not to attend the Nickel Creek/Fiona Apple concert next week in Central Park. Its not even at Summerstage which would allow me to at least sit in bleachers if I get there early enough(and since i've been leaving the office around 8:30pm every night for the past few weeks even that is highly unlikely). No, the kids have chosen a field...a big one, standing room only, general admission for this, rumor has it, one of their final concerts. And in light of the rollercoaster weather we're having the outdoor setting becomes even less appealing. So do I suck it up, make like I'm a teenager again? Or do I take a pass and wait for the reunion tour a few years down the line at someplace sensible like the Nokia Theatre(which will at that point be sponsored by someone else)? I'm not enjoying getting older.......but they're so good

  1. dachmo says You know, I'm a schmuck. I've heard people talk about "Nickle Creek" before and I always passed them up on a listen to because I thought they were the band that sang the song about a photograph, Nickleback. Nickle Creek was pretty good.

  2. Lizziegreeneyes says I'd be more down to see Fiona Fruit - but I do hear you... with the weather on our coast - it would probably turn me off - but that's because have become an adult - bleecckhhh - that was horrible... I am still a kid at heart - but my 401K says I have matured to a point that I really hate a rainy concert in a park ;)

  4. emscee says I have to say, I'm torn as well. It's outdoors, the weather has been unbearable, it's way uptown, no seats, no means to use what minimal clout I have to finagle a decent spot...but NC is going to back up Fiona for her set, and I'm sure there'll be some out-of-left-field collaborations, and she's just, well, Fiona. I'll probably end up staying home, and read about it the next day, and be pissed at myself for wimping out. If you brave it and go, will you MOG about it after?

  5. Misstee says dachmo - BACK does not equal CREEK...they are night and day...glad you dig'em. Lizzie - was never a fiona fruit fan but curious to see the collaboration... Lester - if i could pretend i was 17 again I would be out every night and fitting into size 6 jeans. Emscee - my sentiments exactly.

  7. mktackabery says ^I'm with Mike. You don't have to be in the middle of all the sweat, drunken bodies, and all of that to enjoy it. You can be hip and aloof, with one of those little fans they sell at the Sharper Image you can wear around your neck, because you are older and wiser now, and know how to come prepared. :)

  10. Anna says Do it! I always regret missing a show. And you know how it goes, it's better to regret something you have done, than to regret something you haven't done. Seriously.
