WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Get Ready

Posted about 1 year ago

I am about to set off for a weeks residential with fifty 11 year old children. The thought of it is quite over whelming and daunting, however I feel it is time I started to get organised. This track was an original by the great Smokey Robinson, he wrote it for the Temptations, I believe.

Please excuse my confusion here, but wasn't "Original Twelve" a Coxsone LP?

That track is a remake of his "original cover" - from the sounds of it cut about 1975 for Bunny Lee, backed by the Soul Syndicate, no?

Are you familiar with Gregory Isaacs' cover of Delroy's cover of his own cover of the Temptations hit?

I never actually said which album it came from.Mog decided to automatically refer to the Original Twelve when I published the post, in fact it comes from a cover compilation album called One Love: Essential Reggae.

I don't think I have heard the Gregory version.

Aaaaahh. Delroy's first cut of "Get Ready" was on "Original Twelve", so Rhapsody has assumed that's the one you posted, not the later one.

I'll hunt out the Gregory Isaacs cut (and its dub on "Leggo Dub"), stick them together, and post them on your return
