Tafari Makonnen (1892-1975) was crowned Emperor of
Ethiopia in 1930 and became known as Haile Selassie I. The Rastafarian movement, which emerged in Jamaica in the 1930’s regarded Haile Selaissie as a redeemer of black people. There are estimated to be over 1 million Rastafarians worldwide. The birthday of Haile Selassie is one of the holiest day of the Rastafarian year and is celebrated with drumming, hymns and prayer

Dance hall revival. I thought Tiger was "sick". He had a pretty bad motorbike accident in 1993 which put him out of action for a while. Anyway this is him No Wanga gut in 1987.

The weather is probably the most talked about subject. Well hopefully my rainy days are gone for this week. Had a fantastic residential trip with my year 6 children. Why was it good? The weather, it made all the difference to us having a brilliant time. Smiles all the way. Have a nice day

Wow! I did not know today was his birthday! Haile Selassie gave my church an antique Ethiopain Croptic cross back in the 1954. I wish I were alive to see that and experience the church's love of Haile Selassie.

Thank you for honoring him today! [[Haile Selassie]] I hope to visit Ethiopia and see people who look like me for there is not a day that I am mistakened for Ethiopian but I have no idea if I have roots in the beautiful country.
