We're almost one month away from Christmas, so you know what that means...time to start hauling out the Christmas albums!
Gone are the days of listening to "Beyond the Season" by Garth Brooks or the Chipmunks Christmas album. (Those definitely weren't my calls.) It's all about Sufjan Stevens now. Stevens put out one of the greatest albums of 2005 with Illinois, and a year later, he released this box set. After listening to Illinois, buying this box set was a no-brainer.
His Christmas box set, which consists of 5 CDs, and 44 songs is about the only thing I'll have to listen to this December.
He plays classics like "Silent Night", "The Little Drummer Boy" and "Joy to the World!" but also adds a lot of original compositions such as "Get Behind Me, Santa" and "Put The Lights On The Tree."
Throw in a few instrumentals and this is one impressive batch of music. (Not to mention there's a sing-a-long book, stickers, a poster, comics, an animated short, an essay by Rick Moody, and 2 short stories that come in the box set as well.)
Here's one of Sufjan's original pieces: Come On! Let's Boogey To The Elf Dance!

Great stuff. I like Sufjan, own IIIinoise, but did not spring for this Xmas box set. It's nice to finally hear some of it, and I certainly would like to hear more.
