Is there a more iconographic rock band in history than the Fab Four themselves - The Beatles? I'd give that a hearty N-O. It might be said that, since the dawn of rock and roll, images of Elvis and Bob Dylan are the only others with as much resonance as those of Beatles John, Paul, George and Ringo together in their 1960s heyday. (And record sales notwithstanding, forget about including Michael Jackson in this discussion. With Jacko, you never know what face might show up. It makes you wonder. How do we even recognize him from mutation to mutation?)
So it was with some interest and a little bemusement that I learned of an online contest asking Photoshop manipulators throughout the land to imagine our beloved Beatles as they might appear if they had essayed different styles of music in eras other than their own. I found the web address where I could peruse this series of Beatles portraits, which are currently uploaded for everyone's viewing pleasure. And I must say that I laughed out loud at many of the visions I saw, especially these:
You can look at more of them for yourself right here: http://www.worth1000.com/contest.asp?contest_id=15836&display=photoshop&page=1#entries
The Fab Fro alone is worth a link-in.

I'm sure the ones in the top picture run an underground club in Berlin...
A Flock of Beatles! I like the Def Leppard/Poison cover. Funny stuff!
The " Bluegrass Beatles" is a crack up! I want a poster of that!
George looks so pretty in that first one ;)
Not sure... but I think the one one the far left of Fock of Beatulls is Scotty from the original Star Trek
Joxley: I've been to that club! (If you go, stay out of the back room.)
Madeline: Cut 'n' paste 'n' print! And there are a bunch more at the contest site that are a panic. The aforementioned (politically-incorrect?) Fab Fro shot and one where they're done up as a German speed-metal band are particularly brill.
brittany: It's amazing what a little make-up can do.
trend: His engines are rrrrrrred-hot, Cap'n!
oh dear, those internets . . .
Love b3ta and their weekly comps. The had another one called;
Supergroups
Chris Rea + Dire Straits = Diarrhea. Deep Purple + Whitesnake = Purple Snake. Dick Cheney + Radiohead = Dickhead. You get the idea.

Don't go if easily offended!
mktackabery: Ain't it the truth?
Neill: Fraggin' genius! I'm so occupied with various stuff and nonsense lately that I didn't bother to explore beyond the Beatles mess-around. That supergroup thing is a panic!
Oooops, got a bit carried away.....
Neill: Understandable - and welcome. Went to the Beatles link you posted in the thread. Some of those animated Abbey Road gifs are brutally funny. (And, in my quick perusal, I did enjoy Let It Bean and the Jacko one, in particular. Double "Ha!")
Thanks for the link Mike -- my favourite was the Van Eyck re-working.
@Neill: That thread on the Beatles has 23 pages!
I really like this one

Ha, great find Mike!
Bartleby: De nada, mate! And that Beatle link from Neill is daunting, but the chuckles are plentiful.
August: I know! Killer stuff - and check out Neill's links above. The Supergroup one is just as high-larious.
This is one of my faves. Ahahahah. Ice Cube as Robert Smith!
August: That one stood out for me, too.
This is a hysterical post and with a hysterical thread to boot! Thank you so!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand bookmarked.
(yes, I bookmarked you; and I didn't even buy you dinner first :P)
Anna: Sure. Bookmark me. Bind me. Edit me. Print me up! I'm easy.
Gotta say this post brought a smile to my face
Rawk: We live to amuse!
Oh dear gawd - I'm laffing on the inside AND the outside. The Fab Fro and Rappin' Ringo are great. Then Neil's gotta go and post even more amusing stuff in the thread. So much for looking productive while I'm online!
L.M.I.: You know what they say in Reader's Digest: "Laughter - the best medicine!" I'm still cruising through the Neill bounty. Work? What's work?
Is this any way to treat the saviours of rock music? You betcha! The fab Fro had me giggling and mirthing for many a minute. You are still the mashup king.
These are heelarious. That Michael Jackson baby one cracked me up.
Jonh: Beatles and mash? Delicious!
fist: Page after page of fun on that b3ta site. (Jacko always tried to think of himself as being on the same level with the Beatles, but one floor up? Whoda thunk?)
He was going to kill Paul with his baby. It's just insult to injury after buying the rights to his songs. I thought they had something when they did "Say, Say, Say" together. How times change.
Your title alone had me laughing from the get go. This is great!!!!
fist: "Say, Say, Say It Ain't So."
Sunny: In the interest of full disclosure, I believe I subconsciously cribbed it from an old album by legendary Noo Yawk punk-rock pranksters The Dictators. Maybe not. But if it made you laugh, it was worth it...
Oh good...cause I'm a stickler for full disclosure! ; )
Sunny: Hmmm. How full a disclosure are we talking about?
Well you meant information...riiiight. And who wants half ass info? I want full details!
But I'm not always a stickler. ; )
Is this getting sticky?
