Toxic Billy Ray Leads to Achy Breaky Ears

It's been a long time coming, but I can wait no longer to humiliate the maker and acolytes of a renowned, inane piece of clockwork ear-torture. That's right. It's Tuesday, and toxicity is in the air. And there could be no more toxic entity in the annals (anals?) of inexplicably popular music than the 1992 crossover hit "Achy Breaky Heart" by phony, Kentucky-born, mullet-headed nu-country wonder boy Billy Ray Cyrus.
The omnipresence of this exhaustingly bad track went beyond sonic annoyance and actually encouraged suburban wanna-be cowboys and cowgirls to line-dance like roadhouse shitkickers - not that real roots-country fans have ever embraced that kind of clumsy group clomping. Alas, it gave Cyrus his undeserved career which sickeningly persists. When you throw in the fact that the next-to-talentless Cyrus has stuck around through the auspices of low-brow "family" television programming and spawned the bland, dim tween-girl icon/TV star/country-pop whiner Miley "Hannah Montana" Cyrus, his sins are multiplied.
Here's a short video primer on this cement-head that includes the offending song, if you can stomach it:

I too hate Billy Ray. Always have. But I noticed in your insult thread you wrote Kentucky Born. I—sir—am Kentucky Born, by the grace of God, and I assure you that it has no bearing on his vacancy of talent.
So your saying this is where counrty music offically died? Did Billy Ray kill singlehandedly kill country? I think there should be a full criminal trial! This sort of wanton desctuction of a genre' cannot abide, those responsible should pay. And in the true spirit of country music what better way than a good ol fashioned lynch mob! Yeee Haw!
Country is not dead, y'all are just too cool to read my post.
I'm still in awe today when people break out line dancing at a wedding - and I blame this song! Where did all these dances come from. I went to one this summer and hadn't the foggiest what the song or dance was.
The only group dancing should be moshing or an orgy.
You mad nobody taught you how to electric slide?
If country isn't dead why is there a genral consensus among truck drivers, farmers, and ranchers that old country is better? Now i'm not what you'd call "into" country I do enjoy it somtimes when I'm driving long distances, but even I find "old country" to be better. So if I genre can't evolve to be better than it's past while still paying homige to it I'd consider it to be stagnant or to put it harshly, dead.
I concur. Modern country is too popish/lame. That's why I posted these guys, who I might add are also from Kentucky:

Is this country?
Indeed that is country, with bluegrass and rock n roll. Actually a really good example of how country should have progressed. It's respectful of the past but has enough rock elements to keep the kids entertained. Most importantly they keep their edge and don't go all poppy. A very good band can't wait till they get signed.
Ah Mike....your poison pen is in fine form. Obviously I neither listened nor viewed the video. I had no use for such.....entertainment......in it's heyday...& certainly nothing has changed.
.......But Mike....something about your posts remind me of a Dylan Lyric......
"....Take Care of all your memories, Said Nick....Cause You cannot relive them....I remember when you're out their tryin to heal the sick....You always first must forgive them"
my, how the bile drips :-)
HA! I sing this song once a day, only because I have a student in my class whose name is Aek.........I think he hates me
Allow me to quote the late comedian Bill Hicks: "I have a new game show. It's called Let's Hunt and Kill Billy Ray Cyrus".
misstackett: No disrespect intended towards the land of bluegrass and bourbon - or you, sister. (Cue singalong to "Kentucky Woman.")
dansemcabre: I don't think this is where country music offically died, because this ain't real country music to my ears. For one thing, it's insincere, which is anathema to real country music - something that still exists if you know where to find it. Ask misstackett, and she'll tell ya. Just don't go lookin' for it on the modern country charts or in the CMA nominations or among those considered part of Nashville's current establishment.
contrabandwidth: What about "Riverdance"?
deadmandeadman: Sorry, man. Can't bring myself to forgive this transgressor. But Dylan always gets a free pass!
inrumford: Do ya think? And I've never taken one of Carter's Little Liver Pills, so it must be all natural!
Rawkkiddoh: Fiendish!
dermahrk: Bill Hicks! A hero of mine, as you might suspect. He was always good for some no-holds-barred invective.
Now this is a winner (loser). Hard to see anyone stepping forward to defend this one. Right up there with "We Built This City (On Rock and Roll)" in toxicity.
Ah, the C.B. award of excellence! (Unexcellence?) Thanks, buddy!
