The talent bookers who call the shots on "The Late Show with David Letterman" went all MOGgy again, as rousing Scottish rockers Glasvegas made their American network television debut on Monday night with a roaring visit to Dave's stage. Although Glasvegas is not yet mainstreaming it in the States, they have been celebrated here at MOG by connoisseurs of clever, ear-wrenching goodness since way back in 2007, when the Glasgow-spawned group was first making a splash in the U.K. with a string of indie singles. Fans of The Jesus & Mary Chain's mix of walloping guitars, pounding rhythms, angsty vocals and candy-pop melodies will be likely to go for Glasvegas.
Because I'm certain that there are more than a few MOGgers who didn't catch the performance and would get a kick out of it, I'm embedding a clip of Glasvegas playing "Geraldine" (a single from their eponymous 2008 album) for Letterman and his audience. If you have yet to say, "Viva Glasvegas!" (sorry), give a look and listen, and let me know what you think.

I'm not at all surprised that alert MOGgers were ahead of the curve on this or any other artist or band. And I find I trust MOGgers to tell me the truth. That having been said......Most "reviews" are written by admitted, or newly won over, fans.
So tell me....would a negative review here in the warm fuzzy MOG be a breach of ........something?
BTW: The music...has a very eighties feel....for better or worse. Early era Big Country leaps to mind.
dmdm: I think honesty is valued here at MOG. So if the negativity is supported by an informed view, who could bitch about it? Of course, there are times when we just don't like something. That's the thing about personal taste. It's often a mystery.
I'm still waiting to be struck by lightning as far as these guys are concerned. Respect, yes, but not yet love. They look like the Tony Sheridan-era Beatles, and that's a plus....
Yeah,,,its part of what makes life worth living. If we all liked the same thing...with my luck we'd all be listenin' to Kenny Rogers or some such.
ivy: Yeah. As much as I like 'em, I could just as easily break out an old Echo & the Bunnymen album. It's just that, afterwards, I find myself craving something new - and these guys are putting out catchy stuff.
dmdm: I may not know when to hold 'em, and know when to fold 'em. But I always know to avoid ol' Kenny.
Great performance Mike. I haven't yet jumped on the bandwagon w/these guys yet. I agree w/Ivylander. You'd think that me being a fan of Echo & The Bunnymen, My Bloody Valentine & The Jesus & Mary Chain I'd be on board w/these guys by now, but for some reason they haven't really clicked for me. As you often say 'mileage may vary'(I love that phrase & have appropriated it a few times over the past months). Thanks for posting this clip.
Count me among the converted. I'm SO hoping to catch that song live @ Coachella, because I get goosebumps every time I hear it. Now I'm bummed out that I missed it on Letterman.
Side note: Letterman completely PWNS all other late-night shows for quality musical guests.
loving the standing drummer, have not seen that since the days od trip shakespear. Love this song
You should check out The Muslims then, Kev. They've got a good hard garage sound, and they did a nice cover of Spacemen 3's "Losing Touch With My Mind".
Behold!
and like that a EMCD hit me right before bed......kudos dale, I like this a lot
August: De nada! This rendition was certainly worth unleashing on interested parties. Even if you're not completely sold, it does have that flava many of us like.
Dale: Do not despair, my friend-in-MOG, for you caught it here! And, yes! PWNage indeed on the part of Dave's crew. Could there be a MOGger amongst them? (BTW, thanks for the Muslims clip, although it was a case of musicus interruptus. Grrr!)
Rawkkiddoh: Standing and delivering! Shades of the Violent Femmes, too!
Pleasant dreams Kev, heheheheh. :)
I can see and hear their attraction, but my mileage varies.
:::swoooooooooooon:::
Mike, i am on board your conspiracy theory - behind the Letterman, there is a Mogger.
Great band, although the 2nd album will be interesting...where will they take this sound?
Dale: How can such a good guy be so eeeeeeeeevil?
Jonh: Maybe some hi-test unleaded would help. (heh, heh)
poe: And last night, Dave hosted Okkervil River - another mighty MOG musical marvel! It's a bonanza!
Neill: That's a provocative question. Where to go when your sound is so torrential? And we've seen a few sophomore slumps this past year. Will we see another disappointing second album? Or will they surprise us?
I was about to make an how-can-you-post-this-while-I'm-away scene, but you posted it exactly the day I came back :F
Loved it, of course! And I'm glad that he got rid of his Raybans :)
As far as the second album is concerned, I think they should keep the sound as it is and write great, significant songs. That's my request. I'm not asking for much, am I? :)
Anna: Asking for much? Not at all, considering that you are their most trusted advisor. You are their most trusted advisor, right?
I am.....{insert panic} WHY, WHAT HAVE YOU HEARD?!
Nothing but good things...
