Roger McGuinn, best known as frontman for the late great '60s rock band, The Byrds, says he is not interested in reforming the group for cash at this time. "[Former Byrds member] David Crosby has been trying to get me to go back and do the Byrds for years now," McGuinn told Billboard. "It seems to come up every six months or so. It is not something that is impossible, but it's not something I'm comfortable doing as a gig."I have no problem with the Byrds," he continued. "I see it as a great memory, and why mess it up by going out and doing it now just for money, because it would just be a cash grab."The Byrds defined "folk-rock" in the mid-'60s when they recorded an electric version of Bob Dylan's epic, "Mr. Tabourine Man." Released in June 1965, the song immediately jumped to #1 on the charts. The group's recordings were notable for McGuinn's Dylanesque vocal and at that time unique guitar sound, created using a 12-string, heavily compressed Rickenbacker.
