The first ever DVD of the late great folk-rock-jazz singer/songwriter Tim Buckely will be released on May 15.In advance of the release will be a number of public screenings (see below for details).Titled "My Fleeting House," this collection spans Buckley's entire career - 1967 until 1974 and includes eleven full-length songs, and three partial performances. There are also interviews with Larry Beckett (co-writer of many songs with Buckley), Lee Underwood (Buckley's guitarist) and David Browne (author of "Dream Brother: The Lives of Jeff and Tim Buckley").Tim Buckley died of a heroin overdose June 28, 1975.The DVD includes unreleased video of interaction with Buckley on The Steve Allen Show (1969) and on WITF's The Show (1970). The footage is taken from various television programs from 1967 to 1974 right up to the time of his death in 1975. All but two of the musical clips are unreleased. As an additional oddity, the clip of Buckley being interviewed on The Steve Allen Show includes Jayne Meadows complimenting Buckley on his hair Buckley's greatest album was 1967's Goodbye and Hello, an epic work which included the powerful anti-war song, "No Man Can Find the War," and such classis as "Pleasant Street" and "Morning Glory." 1. Mark Mordue says Fantastic. I'm old enough to have discovered Jeff Buckley via his father Tim, so that is great news. It has always amazed me that someone as wide ranging and ambitious with his talent as Tim Buckley has remained so under-appreciated and cult-like. I've never seen any perfoamnce footage of him but I can imagine from live recordings how dynamic he would be.

  2. Kate says Thank you for this news. I am so disappointed there is no Bay Area screening, but I will definitely be buying this DVD upon release. I've only ever seen live footage of Tim from the Monkees tv show, so news of a trove of unseen stuff is very exciting!

  3. Mike the Knife says Thrilled to hear this. Been getting into a bunch of baroque folk and singer-songwriters of the era, many of whom were Buckley's peers, so it fits right into my current mind-set.

  4. contrabandwidth says Good to hear. My first listen to Tim Buckley was actually a live recording, what a powerhouse. It will be interesting to see him in action. One of the few artists I consider being "White Soul Music." Definitely looking forward to this one.

  5. Michael Goldberg says Actually, the company working on the release is planning a San Francisco screening. I'll post about it once there are details.
