Ex-Sleater-Kinney Corin Tucker Performs New Songs
-
Artist:
Former Sleater-Kinney singer/songwriter/guitarist Corin Tucker performed three new songs at an all-ages show at the “Buckman Art Show & Sell†in Portland, a benefit for Buckman Arts Magnet Elementary School, this past Saturday (March 17) afternoon, according to Sleater-Kinney.net. The new songs are titled “Mary Gets Paid By The Hour,†“Summer in Oly†and “It Was In The Summer When She Left Her House.†Tucker also performed three covers: Prince’s “When U Were Mine†(the catchiest track on his 1980 album Dirty Mind), the Replacements’ “Can’t Hardly Wait†(off the 1987 album, Pleased To Meet Me) and Dusty Springfield’s ‘60s hit, “Son of A Preacher Man.â€Sleater-Kinney - whose final lineup included founding members singer/guitarist/songwriter Carrie Brownstein and Tucker along with drummer Janet Weiss - formed in 1994 in Olympia, Washington. They became one of the more successful indie rock groups, but their importance and influence far exceeded record sales. Call The Doctor and Dig Me Out are two of the greatest rock (or punk or riot grrrl or whatever you wanna call the amazing music they made) albums of all time. The group disbanded in 2006.
