Paul McCartney, Starbucks Announce Deal

Posted over 2 years ago
The deal between ex-Beatle Paul McCartney and Starbucks that MOG reported a week ago was officially announced yesterday (Wednesday, March 21) by both McCartney and Starbucks' chairman Howard Schultz. McCartney has signed a one-album deal with the coffee shop chain, and will retain ownership of the master recordings (which means that at an undisclosed future date McCartney will have the ability to have the album reissued by another company). It was not disclosed how much McCartney was paid, if the album has been recorded yet nor when it will be released. The announcement was made during Starbucks’s annual meeting in Seattle. McCartney appeared live on a huge video screen and conversed with Schultz. “It’s a new world now,” McCartney said. “People are thinking of new ways to reach the people. For me, that’s always been my aim.”For more info:http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/22/business/media/22music.html?_r=1&ref=media&oref=slogin
