Pete Townshend and his partner Rachel Fuller brought their Attic Jam to South By Southwest this year. The show, which took place Thursday night, included folk-rocker Willy Mason, Scottish folk singer Alexi Murdoch, singer/songwriter Martha Wainright and British pop sensation Mika (Mica Penniman).

Photo by William SnyderMason, whose sophomore release, If The Ocean Gets Rough(Astralwerks), will be released Tuesday, opened the show with “We Can Be Strong”; none other than Townshend himself sat in on acoustic guitar while Fuller played piano. Mason had previously played an Attic Jam in Chicago.Mason’s previous album, Where The Humans Eat, was released in 2004 on Conor Oberst’sTeam Love label.
