I dig this new Aimee Mann song, "Thirty One Today," a lot. It's off her upcoming album, @#%&! Smilers, which will be out June 1.

  1. funoka says Thanks again for a great new song. I'm 31 today too -- heh, heh. Aimee is a great American treasure. I haven't seen her in a few years, so I will make a special effort to see her this summer.

  2. Augusts1 says Being a longtime Aimee fan I'd say this is worlds better than anything on "The Forgotten Arm". Hopefully the rest of the album will be just as good as this song.

  3. Charley Rogulewski says I am not looking forward to the day I can say I'm "Thirty One Today." I really like the effects on this song. Thanks for posting this one. Def sounds more interesting than "Forgotten Arm."

  4. Michael Goldberg says I can tell you, from experience, turning 31 is no big deal. In fact, the 30s were great. It's great to be young, but it's also great to be older :-) Having experienced both to the max...

  5. Me and the Horse I Rode In On says August: I agree. Lost in Space was such a perfect Aimee Man album making Forgotten Arm an album I could have been without. This new song sounds really good. I am also a major fan and extremely loyal when it comes to this woman. Michael: The older the better. At least so far. At 33 I not only believe that I'm better than everyone else..........I KNOW IT. 33 also makes you lose sense of judgement.............or so it seems.

  6. dermahrk says And, of course Aimee is now in her 50s, at least, so if anything this is a "looking back" song. ??The Forgotten Arm?? was indeed forgetable, and I didn't even bother with the Christmas CD. While I don't care for the sythesizers on this, it hopefully signals an upswing in the material she's finishing.
