Taken from wiki: múm (pronounced "moom"; in IPA, [muːm]) is an experimental Icelandic musical group whose music is characterized by soft vocals, electronic glitch beats and effects, and a variety of traditional instruments. They are also known for their concise, condensed remixes of songs.

The band was formed in 1997. Its original members were Gunnar Örn Tynes, Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason, and twin sisters Gyða and Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir. In 2002, Gyða left the band to return to her studies in Reykjavík. In early 2006, her sister Kristín also left the band, although it was not officially announced until November 23.[1]

According to founding member Kristín Valtýsdóttir, the band's name was not intended to mean anything. In an early interview, with the now defunct Icelandic paper Fókus, the name was explained as a picture. That is, the written letters "múm" are like two elephants, nodding their trunks.

As of 2006, Kristín is no longer a part of múm. She will however continue to create music. Some of her recent endeavors include her solo project under the name Kría Brekkan, work with Eiríkur Orri (múm's trumpet player) for a modern dance piece and her collaboration on Icelandic band Stórsveit Nix Noltes' second album.

According to múm's label Fat Cat Records a new album recorded during 2006 will be released on September 24th, 2007, and will be titled Go Go Smear The Poison Ivy. The album will be preceded with a single titled "they made frogs smoke 'til they exploded" on August 27th.
