I think this started when my son was just a baby. At some points the CD collection caught his attention. That phase where everything goes in the mouth........and then torn apart if necessary. Somehow the boxset "Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era, 1965-1968" always caught his eye. As he grew older he wanted me to put it on. He was never satisfied. As if the many colors on the cover didn't quite match the sound coming out of the speakers. He was probably thinking "Psychedelica my ass". The box contains four CD's and he would keep handing me one hoping it would sound better than the one he just listened to. This had gone on for some time. Today it happened again. This time things turned out differently. He showed me the box and told me that he wanted to listen to it. I told him that he never liked the music but he took out vol. 2 and placed it in my CD-player. Before he pressed play he looked at me and said "this song is just for me. I know this song is just for me". The song came on and he asked me if I wanted to dance...........of course the two of us spent 2 min jumping around in the living-room. Two great minutes.Listen to the song and jump around if you have to!!!!!!!

Gotta love these moments! I wonder if Viktor will have some faint memory when he's older of him and Dad dancing around like fools. It turned out to be a good track indeed!
Keep up the good work.

Moovy: He turned three in april.
Kris: I was surprised how good that song was. I've never made it through that boxset.
I hope he will remember. I am counting on him wanting to do some recording with his dad when he gets older. He sings all the time so I think he's heading in the right direction.

It will be yet another "succesful son......bitter dad" story. (I know you don't expect me to put a LOL after that...........'cause I won't).

Haven't made it through the box set! Put this thing in iTunes and just shuffle it with your library, you discover why these tracks are nuggets! It's great stuff. Love the story. I can get my 19 month old to rock out to AC/DC (bon scott era, thank you) and he even plays a little air guitar. Dancing with your kids is so much fun!

*Henry the Heartstring puller*... I love the images you've created for us... I think I may jump around in my cube to the song... hope my coworkers will join me rather than call security or health services ;)

I have yet to let my little one near my collection, its in my den which is closed off to all that come into my house. I let him down here once, and he had over 200 cds out in less than 5 minutes. Now he must wait till he is 16

16 - Kev, isn't that a little liberal... my kids won't get near mine til they're 30. Sure, it would help if I *_HAD_* kids... but still... I am a total beehatch when someone screws with my CDs & doesn't return them in the condition they received them. If it's one I can't bear to lose - I'll burn it (sorry music gods - I've put in my small fortune - if I wanna spread a little joy.... (sue me) ) ;)

DONT GET ME STARTED! Nothing is worse than giving a friend a cd, and when its returned you see that it was used as a coaster or some shit. Man, talk about finding a quick way to piss me off. Are you hearing me Bond, are you even here!

Hey man - you say noone is allowed in the den - then noone is allowed in the den... would you go to sleep already, I have a drink that's leaving rings on your coffeetable ;P You'd think with your ladder access - you'd at least let me take a gander ;)
This is why I have very few CDs at work - someone actually had the balls to ask me when I was going to get around to getting some Radiohead to him that he asked for 2 weeks ago. When I damn well get around to it bitch - maybe NEVER... but it's music & I can't deny music to anyone who loves it. He ain't no junkie though... never will be !!!! But another of my friends - he knows how OCD I am about my CDs - he's the same way - so we are more than happy to swap for a little while & know when we get them back - they are in the same condition if not better - which is suspect I know... but...

The Nuggets box is one of my top favorite box sets. And you know, Henry, there's always track 7 on disc 2 for when the kid gets a little older, so better keep the box around... :D

Thanks Pekka. Action Woman............I'll wait 'till he turns four. I like your post about the box sets. Thanks for the advice.
