Eagle Fly Free

Caught Cellador at the Knitting Factory the other night. They put on a great show.Although I dig their album, if I had one complaint it would be that it's a little too "clean" sounding. True of many power metal records. Not true of their live show. Not only could they perfectly recreate all the intricate, virtuoso shit from the record, but they delivered it with real energy and a refreshing raw edge. Impressive shit from a band not entirely out of their teens yet. These guys can really play and Michael Gremio is the real deal on the mic. They dropped an amazing cover of Helloween's "Eagle Fly Free" towards the end of their set. Might have been lost on some of the younger guys in the crowd (and there were lots of them), but i appreciated it.Also great to see a touring metal act play a small intimate venue, sell their own merch, hang with the fans etc. As I've said before, metal's been relagated to huge commercial venues and structured, corporate package tours for too long. Nice to see the pendulum swinging back this way.
