Caught Early Man and 3 Inches of Blood at the Knitting Factory last night.Great fucking show.My second time seeing Early Man and they ripped just as hard as last time. These guys are the real deal. They shredded personal fave Thrill of the Kill and closed with a killer rendition of Death is the Answer to My Prayers. Only bummer was no War Eagle. Next time, I guess.I'm a big 3IB fan, but this was my first time seeing them. Holy shit. They destroyed. These guys come off as slightly cartoonish on record, but live they are the truth. Seriously, I can't remember the last time I've seen a band play with this intensity, especially at a hot, sweaty, dark little club. The pit was going, fists were flying, devil signs pumping. True metal at its finest. So often metal shows are at these huge theaters or some giant festival type bill. This was a great reminder that there is no substitute for the in your face, kick you in the teeth, up close and personal experience.Last night felt how I imagine it felt to see Slayer at one of the Show No Mercy club shows they talk about here- http://www.decibelmagazine.com/features_detail.aspx?id=4566Great article, by the way. Definitely worth picking up that issue of Decibel to peep the whole thing. Some sweet flicks and old photos/flyers in there as well.
