Funky/Jazzy/Rockin'

So, now that I'm back at home again, my band has been doing alot of practicing. I have been saying that we need to take it up a notch and work on making a couple of songs that people can really get into upon the first listen, songs that will get people dancing at our live shows and buying our cds. The rest of my band agrees with the exception of one, it seems in our absence from home, our lead singer has become obsessed with metal. Now, I tend to have broad tastes and I accept metal and hardcore as parts of a balanced musical diet. He seems to have just dived head first into it though, it is all he listens to anymore. So now he wants to make all kinds of metal breakdowns in our songs and he wants me to use alot of double bass drum. UGH! Luckily I am not alone in my frustration, and the rest of the band agrees, along with most people who know him.On a happier note, I'm way excited about a new song that we started working on today that its very funky and should prove to get normal people dancing and indie kids to possibly tap their feet or show other signs of life. haha.
