WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

I LOVE music

Posted over 3 years ago
So, I recently realized that I'm not really caring very much about my college career, and much to the dismay of my friends and family, I am probably going to fail most of my classes this semester. I decided a long long time ago that I wanted to be a mechanical engineer I have a pretty analytical brain which serves me well when it comes time to do math and figure out how things work. I like stuff like that. But, it has come to my attention recently that I don't love it. I love playing music and everything about music, it is fun, you meet awesome people, and you affect people in a way that only art really can. I have been playing the drums for almost 9 years, thats nearly half my life, and I have always loved it, at times I didn't take it as seriously as I would have liked but now I'm going nuts trying to learn everything I can. The last couple nights it has been taking me hours to get to sleep because I can't stop thinking about waking up and practicing. So, I'm thinking about changing my major to music performance, although I'm worried about my parents reaction to me telling them that I want to change my career path from one that garuantees 50,000 to 70,000 dollar starting salaries, to one that may never pay off. I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed. PS. I no longer have MOG-O-Matic because I switched to Linux, just so nobody thinkis I stopped listening to music, haha, like that could happen.

  2. ny isn't just a city says I agree...do what you love to do. I had (almost) the same problem this past year. I was going to be a bio/pre-med major and every day I was in that class I felt more and more nauseous thinking about what my life would turn out like if I went through with it. It was only about 2 months ago that I decided to officially switch my major to psychology, where I felt like I should be. My parents weren't exactly excited about my decision either but they've come around and are trying to help me in any way that I need. basically, go ahead with music if thats where your heart is :)
