Hardcore

Posted over 5 years ago
So, i recently have fallen into another one of my post-punk/hardcore phases. it started last weekend when i came home for thanksgiving break. i have a friend who is in a hardcore band and they are pretty awesome, so i went to one of their shows last weekend and loved it. the intensity is so great, the room is alive at these shows. I think that i might want to start a small hardcore band now. just like a two or three piece, something simple. the thing that i love about the hardcore scene is the live show, the crowd is right up in your face, and you feel like a million bucks even when you're playing in a sweaty basement at rutgers or a smelly barn in rural nj. the lead singer in my band has been going through this metal phase recently, so we might start a little two man band come winter break. i'm pretty excited about it, the local music scene near me at home is pretty ridiculous. the guitarist in my band went to puerto rico for a week over the summer and we had a small show booked, so instead of canceling, we threw together a mock hardcore band and wrote 5 songs in a week, the songs were all about star wars and other nerdy stuff. the band was called elektra thrash and the super star destroyers, you can see the videos of our performance on youtube. that show got the most positive response we've ever gotten after a show, it was pretty depressing how many people loved it.well thats my rant, thanks for reading.

  1. Spencer Owen says Every time anybody talks about their local hardcore scene, it seems like so much fun that I want to join in. My friends are from Kansas City, MO, and their best friends were in a band called When Good Robots Go Bad! ... man, that all sounded great.
