Back in 1988, a compilation came out on A&M called
Stay Awake. It featured a cornucopia of artists covering tunes from Disney movies. Some of these versions were very inspired; some, not so much; and some were downright bizarre. Far be it from me to define what "bizarre" in music is, so I'll simply feature my favorite of the lot, from one of my very favorite bands. Louis Prima would be proud. Groove on it while you peruse the album's track listing below.1. Opening Medley ("I'm Getting Wet And I Don't Care At All") a) Hi Diddle Dee Dee (An Actor's Life For Me) — Ken Nordine with Bill Frisell and Wayne Horvitz b) Little April Shower — Natalie Merchant, Michael Stipe, Mark Bingham and The Roches c) I Wanna Be Like You (The Monkey Song) — Los Lobos 2. Baby Mine — Bonnie Raitt and Was (Not Was) 3. Heigh Ho (The Dwarfs Marching Song) — Tom Waits 4.
