I was accidentally watching the TV show "Jesse" (starring Christina Applegate) one night, several years ago, and I accidentally kept watching the damn thing, and I can't even recall the plot now, it has morphed into mush, but at one point, toward the end of this particular episode, Christina Applegate is having a potential moment with her love interest, and this song starts playing. The delicate guitar-drum intro had me hooked all by itself, but then the first words are sung, "If I gave you my love, I'd tell you what I'd do," — the undeniable elegance of Al Green's voice, and I truly believe that my jaw dropped. I already adored Al Green, but this song somehow passed under the radar. You just never know when or where you're going to discover a new song that will become one of the most cherished songs in your life.
