In honor of all the rip your head off music going on right now....

I could not just sit back and not throw a loud track out there. I will not have time to enter Dale's championship so I will just offer this lil bit o metal and then be on my way. I do not listen to this type of music much anymore, but I do have a certian fondness to a little metal from time to time and when I do, this is where I go......

Heh... not a real big fan of Zao. I do have their disc Parade Of Chaos and the Split Ep with Training For Utopia. The split ep has the original version of Skin Like Winter. I think I like it just a bit better.

Ha, good to see you Doom, I was hoping you would stop by. Parade of Chaos is my least favorite cds from zao. Liberate and Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest are my two favorites. I aggree the original Skin Like Winter on the split with TFU is just as good if not slightly better. That breakdown at the end is awesome. Thanks again for checking in.

metalheads are turning in their graves as i share my 0.02 about something i know little of. (: excluding Led Zeppelin, Motorhead, and Metallica (which are my given's), my short list of contributions would have to include:
1) Sepultura - Arise; Chaos A.D.
2) Silent Lucidity by Queensryche (Pink Floyd fans are gasping now)
3) Anthrax - Attack of the Killer B's
4) Celtic Frost
5) This Is Spinal Tap (of course!)
do Faith No More, Primus, Alice in Chains count? (because i love 'em!) how about Helmet, Ministry, Tool? shit, i knew this would confuse me...

The music's thrashin', but the vocals are a tad beyond my ability to appreciate - he also scares Isa, and I just can't have that :-). Metal is a genre I seem to know little about other than familiarity with the well-known bands - any suggestions for the girl? Nicely done post regardless!

Poebegone, All those count if you ask me. It just depends on what flavor of loud music you are in the mood for. It is just like any other music genra...there are plenty of different styles within the style.
Girlcrawl, I do not really have a lot of reccomendations for you. One that comes to mind that is not as "crazy" as ZAO is Helmet. They had a cd that came out in the early mid-90's called Meantime that is very rocking and the vocals are not as growly as Daniel Wyendent from ZAO. Meantime was a pretty commercially successful record in its time and you could easily find it in your local used cd stores bins. Meantime is still one of my all time favorite cds from that era.
I was going to embed a Helmet video but all of Helmet's videos have been disabled from embeding on You Tube. Grr...so, being the quick thinker that I am...I remembered another band that was as equally rocking back in the early 90's and I enjoy these guys just as much as Helmet. Check out this video from Quicksand....

I believe the full saying for it is Liberate te ex inferis and it is latin for Save Yourself From Hell. The record is a concept record adapted from the 14th century author Dante’s book Inferno.

Actually, if I understand correctly, the band, being a bunch of only half aware kids, at the time they constructed the album it was based on Event Horizon (which is where all the dialogue samples come from) which, for those of us who are unfamiliar, is a questionably good, Horror/SciFi, starring Sam Neil (y'know, from jurassic park), about a space ship that passes through a portal into hell, only to return and be boarded by a new crew with no idea of the evil now dwelling on the ship.
It does, however, basically deal (however half-assed) with a number of Dante's concepts.

Really? burned out on Liberate? Wow. I love that disc so much. I really do not listen to the heavy music such as ZAO much anymore. Maybe that is why I cling to Liberate still?
As for The Fear That Keeps Us Here...hmm. I own it but I have found it really does not seem to rock me as much. It has some moments for sure. I think it is more that I am just not listening to this style of music much anymore.
