I just watched the rock-documentry DIG ( http://www.palmpictures.com/film/dig-.php )Here is a scene from the movie:I am somewhat familiar with The Dandy Warhols but they are pretty hit and miss with me. The Brian Jonestown Massacre I was not really aware of. I guess I had heard of them, I just never got around to them. After watching that documentry and getting some good spins of Tepid Peppermint Wonderland - 2 Disc Retropective, I am firmly convinced that I really missed the boat with this band. But I am glad I just got airlifted in last night and I am ready for departure. I also included the song "Who". I swear I have heard this prior to this initial listening of BJM. Was this in a commercial or something? Does this song not rock though? Before I realized what the name of this song was, I never realized they were yelling the word "Who". I always just thought they were hollering. Here are some great links I have found so far.http://www.brianjonestownmassacre.com/http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dllhttp://www.myspace.com/digthebjm http://www.myspace.com/shoegazereturns

Girlcrawl, I am not exactly sure what you mean. Yes Anton's ego is second to none, but the man really seems to be crazy. The movie was a little bit depressing on how dysfuntional this man is. I guess that is what I find so intriquing about BJM's music. There are some easy comparrisons with their music stylistically, but I really think it has a fresh sound. I think I am also really drawn to the gritty sound that it has as well.

Sorry about the lack of clarity - did not mean to send post as it wasn't quite finished. I actually have liked alot of BJM's musical output over the years and do intend to acquire Tepid. Went to a few shows in CA and they can be very entertaining - anyways excellent post - got a kick out of the clip actually. Well-done!!

I have not made it thru all of their cds yet. But the ones that stick out for me are - Methodrone, Thank God For Mental Illness and Stick it to the Man. However, if you want a great compilation that spans all of their cds, Tepid Peppermint Wonderland is a great place to start.
