*We Made The Team (Single) 3:28*
From Labrador Records site: We Made The Team« is the new mp3 single by The Radio Dept. The song has been a work in progress since july but the band´s recent visit to London inspired them to finish it and release it immidiately. It's a lazy skank, high on petrol fumes, scottish lager and cream tea.
Last summer I was just going along minding my own business when out of the blue I get attacked by the not so evil EMCD bug. While mogging around I stumbled onto one of Dale’s old posts for the The Radio Dept. and at first listen I was intrigued enough to add them to my list. Fast forward a few months later when I got my hands on Lesser Matters. I was instantly drawn into the obvious lo-fi shoegazery and distortion. However they tweak it enough with the electronic drum machine sounds and sugary smooth vocals to make it connect to my soul. There is not a bad song on the album.Pet Greif is a bit more mellow and atmospheric and benefits a little from the better production quality. It is a little bit heavier on the electronic parts of their sound. In a lot of ways there is a decent amount progression in their overall sound. I could see how depending on your tastes in music it could be considered a step back. Most of their discography (2 LPs and several EPs) accomplish one thing that I have always been drawn to in music. …What is it that Mike has been drawn to in music you may ask? Well, let me tell you. I have always loved when a band can accomplish the feat of sounding loud and chaotic while at the same time sounding mellow and relaxing. Bands that achieve this can somehow always fit my moods. The Radio Dept. never disappoints no matter how my day is going. *Anyways, I said all that to say this. According to their Myspace site they will be releasing a new record in May. No date as of yet, but who cares at least we know that something is going to be available soon!*Linkage:http://www.myspace.com/officialradiodepthttp://labrador.se/releases/radiodept.php3 *3 more songs in the comments*
