5 out of 5 - Interpol Turn on the Bright Lights

Interpol.Turn On The Bright Lights.2002.NYC.This was a total surprise to me. Maybe the interesting part is that finding Interpol pretty much coincides with my introduction to pitchfork in 2002. I lapped up the fact that Pfork said it was the best record of the year and I had never even heard of it. It was on sale at Best Buy for 5.99. How could I pass that deal up? I bought this cd never having heard a second of it. This was a sound for sore ears. Turn on the Bright Lights came just at the right time for me. Every track is so perfect. The opening track Untitled has got to be one of the best record openers for a long time for me. It is so hard to pick a favorite off of this one so I will just go with the haunting NYC.

    walkingthecow says interpol was a great find for me as well. i didnt quite get the advantage of picking it up for that cheap though. i was however unimpressed with their live performance i caught on conan, or the tonight show....or was it letterman. damn. i will say that they have improved live.

    Augusts1 says I've not seem them live in person yet @ = ( . I got turned onto them when I received a free mix cd from a Levi's promo cd I got when I bought a pair & sent in for it. It was all hard rock emo shit BUT the only song on the album that I liked alot was Interpol's "Obstacle 1" which I played over & over numerous times. I had resisted the hype around them for quite some time(like I did w/The Strokes) but once I heard that song I was hooked & "Antics" came out not too long after I discovered Obstacle. So I bought it(special edition w/remix cd) & fell in LOOOOOOVE. I think Antics is my fave but I'm so loving their new one too. Interpol is awesome!

    bloodtea says $5,99!? You'd be lucky to get some Interpol for 16,50€ here (that's about what I paid for Depeche Mode's The Singles 86>98, some years ago) sheesh! but I must say _Turn On The Bright Lights_ is one hell of a delight, good music to my ears indeed, so as _Antics_.
