Waiting for the End of the World
..I made it back. The roads were not as bad as I thought they would be. They were not good, but not unusable either. It was just slow going. .....I spent about an hour in the record store. Overall I am very pleased with what I got. I bought things I would not normally buy. (pricewise) I spent 26 bucks for Jason Collett’s Idols of Exile! I figured, when would I be sitting in a record store with 100.00 again? So I did splurge a bit. I found some of the things like the Staples Singers, but they were in pretty rough shape. I was trying to find fine condition stuff, so I mostly stuck with new. ...Here is what I found on the list. Pictured left to right, front row first. The Jesus and Mary Chain – Psycho CandyMogwai – Mr. BeastElvis Costello – My Aim Is TrueJason Collett – Idols of ExileEcho and the Bunnymen – S/TElectrelane – No Shouts No Calls...

  5. HelenMarie says It's strange to hear about the snowy, gray and cold weather...it's goin' to be 80 & sunny here today! Wonderful setup there! Fine taste of music you have already... and beer, of course! *I* have a lot of catching up to do.

  6. Marigold says Sunny H. 80's and sunny? I must admit I am a bit jealous. Argh, I still need to go outside and shovell 8 inches of snow off my driveway and sidewalks. :( Have you tried any new beers as of late?

  7. HelenMarie says Umm...no. I've been on a bit of my favorite organic vodka kick lately. What should try though next time I'm feelin it?

  8. Marigold says Organic Vodka? Interesting. As for the beer suggestions, I am not familiar with what your beer selections are like Sunny F. My suggestion would be, something you have never had before. You might be surprised with what you find. Good and Bad. :)

  10. Marigold says Ah yes Sunny G. (G stands for grasshopper) The sign of a good master is not to overwhelm one's students. You are in the stage of just realizing that the matrix exists. I do not want to fill your head full of useless information. (yet)

  12. Marigold says I aggree. It is easy to spend 10-20 on music here and there but I honestly do not know if I have ever took 100.00 dollars and devoted it to a wild music spending spree. It was a lot of fun. I have to thank my parents for the gift and my wife for encouaraging me to spend it all on music. My family rocks!

  17. FluxCapacitor says Great double post, Mike, and you got some great stuff on your death-defying trip in that blizzard. And aside from the warmer sound, vinyl covers are so much lovelier to look at (my faves are stacked "on show" in the living room). But it can be an expensive business re-buying albums, so I've tried to stick to singles. Although if I'm in a record store and I see an LP I love, I just can't resist... get used to it!

  18. ketut says Don't be fooled people. It was 6 inches at best. No dying. NO freezing in your car. Jeez, us Minnesotans are turning into a bunch of wimps. He didn't tell you we went out drinking in the middle of this "Storm to end all Storms".

  19. Marigold says August. I can't argue with that. Groon. I was pretty excited when I found it....like a kid in a candy store. madrid. Hope you weathered the storm. Dale. I thought you would approve of that selection. Colin. Looking at the artwork is so fun. I consider them art. (duh) I am going to try and not get to crazy re-buying things I already have on disc. But there are a few releases that just need to be owned on vinyl. Keith. 6 inchs in North East. But in Robbinsdale we had a solid 8 inches, maybe 9. Yes, we did go out and imbibe that night didn't we?

  27. Augusts1 says haha yea, I'm 'trolling'(NOT)! All is well here but it's not sunny, it's been overcast since sunday & it rained hard last night. Up here in N. CA we get the seasons & it can be downright chilly most eves but it rarely ever snows here(even when we have it doesn't stick around for long). Btw, I just got some naughty elf action(but not like the pic above), hahahahahaha!!!
