  2. Augusts1 says Hey pipe down wouldja? I'm trying to listen to Teenage Fanclub's album of covers but you're distracting me once again. MADD in effect, heh! Liking these guys, especially 'Collarbone', the guy's voice kind of reminds me of Michael Franks but this is way cooler & funky.

  3. darmuzz says Yes! Like that video! Very amusing name for a UK band.

  4. Doomsayer2001 says Wax on! Wax off! On the first song, I like the keys fading in. And that's an 80's bass line if I ever heard one... Actually it reminds me of the Ace song "How Long (Has This Been Going On)" from whenever... guaranteed to hear it on your favorite soft rock station. The second song makes me think Queen lite. I'm waiting for someone to say "Another one bite's the dust." Not to shabby... but I probably won't run out and buy it anytime soon.

  6. Marigold says August. I am still getting used to the cd. But it is starting to grow on me faster then normal. Teenage Fanclub has a record of only covers? Dar. I like the video as well. Thanks for dropping in. Doom. Thanks for testing the songs out. Its fun to read your thoughts on the songs. Jeff. huh? Do you think your Patriots are going to lose this weekend?

  7. deadmandeadman says Do I think the Patriots are gonna lose? Do I think the sky is orange? Do I think Danny Partridge is the greatest bassist ever? Do I think Brad Pitt is a better actor than Godzilla? Do I think Amy Winehouse is the greatest female vocalist since..(insert favorite female vocalist's name)? Do I think Hillary is a person of integrity? Do I think Wade Phillips is half the man Bum was? Do I think Bill Belichick reads harlequin novels? Do I think Marigold drinks wine with little finger extended? Do I think Tony Cornheiser knows anyfuckingthing at all? Do I think My civil rights are being trampled as a result of the war on terror? I'm sorry, What was the question?

  8. Marigold says Jeff. Amy Winehouse is a female?

  9. deadmandeadman says Rumor has it. I'd have to do a physical myself to believe.

  10. amber says hmmmm...not sure what I think but I think Collarbone has "grow on you" potential. BUT! I did get something from this post I was needing. I was in Hot Topic (buying a tee-shirt for my *daughter*) and there was a great couple of cover songs playing. I asked the cute pierced boy working there who they were and he told me and I forgot. Now....Thank you! *Teenage Fanclub*! Yep yep! :)

  11. Marigold says Amber. Glad we could help. August has always got his radar on, he must have known you were needing a mentel brain jog. I aggree, I feel like there is something worthwhile with F&M. A grower it may be...we shall see.

  13. Oatmeal says I heard a song by them on a sampler once, and I thought it was alright. The tongue in cheek lyrics kind of rubbed me the wrong way, but this transparent song is catchy. I remember reading (in XLR8R) that they were trying to be poppy krautrock, but I don't know what that means.

  14. ZZTodd says i heard their record in the spring. thought it was pretty catchy. like the video as well.
    Permalink posted 11/24/2007
  15. Marigold says Pat. Let me know if you want it. Oatmeal. I am not super big on the corny lyrics as well. That is one of the negatives for me as well. The music is pretty hard to deny though. ZZTodd. Aggreed on the catchy comment.

  16. ardyjormkiv says i saw them play last year and it didn't blow me away, but they're a lot of "fun". they were also quite "cute" as they were balding thirty- or forty-somethings wearing puma jackets. i also recommend "in one ear and out the other" from transparent things!

  17. Marigold says ardy. Fun is a good way to explain their sound. As much as like this, I will really be interested to see if it keeps my interest for long. I think the whole cd at this point is above average. I will take a closer listen to "in one ear and out the other" upon your suggestion. Thanks.

  18. FluxCapacitor says I've heard Collarbone before on a mix, I really, really dig that tune -- they're a very laidback band, nice pick, Mike. I'm going to follow this one up.

  19. Marigold says Colin. Glad you like. Let me know if you need it.

  20. moovyphreak says I learned of this group earlier in the year when Blair (SatisfiedMind614) posted "Ankle Injuries." Despite their name, the group is actually comprised on 3 guys.

  21. Augusts1 says LOL, love your question about Amy Winehouse, too funny(& may very well be true). She does have that drag queen quality about her! Btw, that Teenage Fanclub album is posted on M & is pretty good. Popsavant posted it last week & you can find it "*here*":http://popsavant.multiply.com/music/item/5048/TEENAGE_FANCLUB_-_A_Collection_of_Cover_Songs.

  22. Marigold says Thanks for the linkage. I will investigate. BTW, you better have a good post coming because it has been a while since you have made one. Whats the hold up? :)
    Permalink posted 11/26/2007
  23. Augusts1 says Hahaha, well, it's a long story & too personal to post here. I'll mogmail you. Yvw for the linkage, I think you will enjoy that Teenage Fanclub covers album.

  24. Marigold says I am sure there is a reasonable reason. :)

  25. FluxCapacitor says Thanks Mike, I'm sure spied a copy in my local record store recently. Btw, I've ordered Orange Can's third album, should be at Capacitor Towers within the week!

  26. Marigold says Oh yeah! I am looking forward to hearing it. I will need to get me a copy of it at some point. Thanks.

  27. amber says Adendum...never heard of F&M before until this post but now they are EVERYWHERE! most recently on a KEXP live "CD":http://www.kexp.org/kexpvol3cd/default.asp I just ordered. Go figure.... Thanks for the introduction!
    Permalink posted 11/27/2007
  28. amber says BTW...the "CD" above is a link to the KEXP site. Don't know why it didn't turn out a different color....usually it does. Hmmmm, mysterious.
    Permalink posted 11/27/2007
  29. Marigold says Amber. It is this MOG skin. It is not very link friendly. As for your mention of seeing F&M all over the place now is because of syncronicity. I have started a string of supernatural events that I nor you have control of. Thanks for the link btw.
    Permalink posted 11/27/2007
  30. amber says OHHHH... and here I thought it was me. Supernatural events...cool. Out of control is one of the best ways to be and throw in some music supernatural mojo...right on. You're very welcome to the link...wait a few days (it's in the mail, they tell me) and you might even find the CD available for download at some _other_ place we might hang at. ;)
