Steve Ramsey from Young Galaxy did a hit job on me with these three posts on the band Orange Can. http://mog.com/Young_Galaxy/blog_post/122381http://mog.com/Young_Galaxy/blog_post/122391http://mog.com/Young_Galaxy/blog_post/122393I got my copy of Home Burns in the mail about a week ago and it is blowing my ZUNE up. I can't stop listening to it. I am hearing so many things in this. Beta Band, Stone Roses, Hendrix, Pink Floyd are all there. Great combo and well done.Home Burns is their second release. They have a new one that just came out this year. You can sample a few songs from Exit Chasing on their myspace. http://www.myspace.com/orangecanuk

I'm glad you posted those links to Steve's posts since I'm not digging these two songs all that much. But I do really like what I've heard on Steve's posts. Definitely a Stone Roses/Peter Gabriel vibe going on with them.

August. Glad you liked Steve's post. I felt I needed to do another OC post since he does not have many readers nor does he post a lot. Thanks for stopping by his and my page.
Colin. Anytime my friend. Just trying to return the favor.
Anna. Why only 5 hours? What happens at hour 6?

Oh yeah! High five MariG! I love hearing the bit of pink floyd in there, not so common these days.
Hey on a side note...
I just tried Brooklyn Brown ale the other night...What's your take on that one. I quite liked...
Marigold says
moovy. Glad you like. Check out Young Galaxy's music if you have not done so yet as well. Its good stuff!
Sunny D! Glad you like. You are right, it is not super common to hear blatant Pink Floyd sounds in music these days. I welcome it back with open arms. Especially with the other influences thown in.
Brooklyn, Brown. I am pretty sure I have had it, but it is not available in these parts. I don't really recall for sure what it is like. BB is a very well respected brewery and Garret Oliver (the head brewer at BB) is very well known in the beer nerd world. I am glad you like it. I would like to think that I may have inspired you to try a beer you may not have tried before. Keep me updated if you start trying other things.
HelenMarie says
Absolutely you have inspired. I'm usually an open person and will try but sometimes I just need a little nudge. My Ma always made me try stuff just once, so I at least know. Brooklyn Brown is a pretty dark and wheaty beer. (you probably got the dark idea from the name) I tend to like the darker beers.
My hub tried Hoegardeen (or something like that) last night and I had a taste...you could really taste the herbs in that one.
I'll update you as the beers hit my palate.
Marigold says
Hoegarden is Belgian style wheat beer spiced with corriander and orange peel. Good to hear you are trying things! Woot! another convert. Before you know it, you will be touring the country with your husband going to breweries and concerts.

Mmmm, I've got that in a really nice gatefold sleeve.....brushed off in the UK as Beta Band copiers, although I liked them well another in 2001 to buy the cd.
Marigold says
Neill. I must have the same copy. Mine is pretty beat up. The exterior case has some rips in it. The inner sleeve is in mint shape though. It is some pretty packaging. Yeah, there is some Beta Band influence there that is for sure.

Brooklyn Brown: not bad. I just bought some Fuller's ESB and Young's Special London Ale (since I couldn't find Spitfire), and also some Franziskaner Dunkel Hefe-Weisse. (Dark is more to my taste than the more standard blondes - in hefeweisses, that is!) My cooking plans in the next days will be less friendly to wine, my usual home beverage of choice.
Oh, this wasn't a beer thread....oops. The color scheme on the Home Burns cover is a bit like Muse's Origin Of Symmetry; I don't know if that's what Anna was thinking about. Anyway, I guess I'll go and listen to some Orange Can now. Cheers, Mike.
Marigold says
Pekka. I just homebrewed a Fuller's London Porter clone recipe and it is quite tasty. I love Fuller's line up of beers. Franziskaner is a delicious dark German Wheat beer. I have had it on tap a few times and it is always good.
Nice call on the record cover.
Anna. That is un-orange canny how similar those record covers are. I wonder if it is the same artist?
goodmusiconly says
mmm Franziskaner ... is it five o'clock beer time yet? I think 5 on the east coast qualifies ... The Orange Can, is tasty, thanks! I betcha you'd like Kingsbury Manx ... similar voice and Floyd-ish stylings.
Marigold says
Erin. OC has been mogtiplied. 5 o'clock somewhere? Screw that! I go with the its noon somwhere! Kingsbury Manx? Never heard of em. Sounds like I should check em out.
goodmusiconly says
Liking both of your attitudes! And when the nectar of the gods is flowing I will now use the excuse Wine:39.
Thanks Mike, and if you're interested, see me on M - Kingsbury Manx is already there.
Marigold says
Opps! I accidently deleted you comment. LOL. Um..er....uh, sorry. I am such a dork. I meant to delete mine because I spelled alcohol wrong. Please forgive me. I wonder who the alcohol is really taking its toll on. :)
goodmusiconly says
hahaha!
Drinking Dogfish Head Punkin Ale: Tasty. Having fellow mogger post Barnes & Barnes "Fish Heads Fish Heads" vid from youtube: Absolutely silly. Deleting said moggers comments under the influence of said ale and having to admit drunkenness: Priceless.
;)
love ya, M!
