Well. It has come upon me. My first extended abscense from MOG. It was inevitable but I will be gone for the next 5 days visiting brewpubs accross the midwest...it's a tough job I know. I must admit I am going to miss this MOG thing that has taken so much of my time as of late. I will miss all you moggerfockers. :PI leave you with a song/band that Dale EMCDed me with, The Mary Onnetes. And some pics of beer trips of the past!Bells BrewingThree Floyds BrewingFlossemor Station BrewpubThe LiveryKraftbrauArcadia BrewingDarkhorse BrewingGreat Dane BrewpubAle AsylumAngelic BrewingGoose Island.....Here we come!

Actually. Yes we have designated driving all planned out. We found hotels that are close to the establishments we are going to...that way we can walk...or stumble. :)
Lady Miss Ian says
Stumbling works. Just look both ways when you stumble across the road.
We look forward to your Beer 'n' Music report when you get back.

Have fun. Hey was that a picture of the Pyradmid Brewery up there? I am envious of this endeavor. Beer. (insert Homer drooling sound)
Marigold says
fistula, Why yes that is Pyramid Alehouse. It is right accross the street from the sports fields in downtown Seattle. Man that place is awesome. I have always wanted to go to Pyramid it was one of the first microbrew breweries that I fell in love with in the early 90's. I was living in Denver at the time, I had a job at a liquor store and discoverd that I do indeed LOVE beer. :)
Marigold says
fistula, Flying dog...hmm, I can't say for sure. I remember totally loving their beer, I was quite fond of their Fly Dog "Doggie Style" Pale ale. I have been sold on that brewery ever since. Sure wish I could remember if I had been there though. Remember going to Breckenridge several times though. Was'nt there a place that had a full level of pool tables, maybe 20-30 of them? I want to say Railyard Brewing or something? ...Erin?? can you help on this one? New Belgian up in Fort Collins is great as well as O'Dells.
Neill, Ha! Not so quick there! The beer supply and music room at home are under tight wrap! You will have to get by the 2 pronged weiner dog assult team. (Brownie and Lady) and a wife armed with mase, gernades, m16's and two anti air craft flak gun turrets on either side of the house. ...Dang was it a bitch getting the city permits for those anti aircraft guns! :)
Anna says
This is awesome! Can I come? I'll be good, I promise. No? Oh well, worth a shot. Have loads of fun and loads of beer!
And I love that you put on this new appropriate avatar :)
fistula spume says
Railyard Ale! Man I love their beer. I wish I could get it in Arkansas. Then again there are a lot of things I wish I could get in Arkansas. I wish I could download beer.

moggerfockers lol!!! Dude, down some for me will you :)
If ever you are in the UK, allow me to introduce you too:
It's name is a true reflection of what it does to you !!!

I love some good beer... and have been recently blessed with the fact that Fat Tire is now for sale here in the twin cities... I will be missing it once I am back in Michigan... but hey, there are other beers out that way that I dig....
any way if you make it to Ann Arbor, MI some day you will have to check out Leopold Bros.
Until then, stay safe and I look forward to your beer report card...
goodmusiconly says
Mike, are you thinking of the Wynkoop Brewing Company? The whole upstairs has pool tables, and the downstairs is a restaurant/brewpub. I used to work at Westword Newspaper when it was located right across the street ... spent MANY a late hour there back in the day ;P
Have a great trip, my friend! Sounds like loads of fun. Travel safe, and have one for me (I'm a big fan of the belgian ales, for reference) ;)
Cheers! ~ E.

I know you've already done the Seattle beer thing, but next time you are in town (or need a ride to Red Hook!) I expect a call...
Have a great time! You'll be missed.

Love the "moggerfockers" comment as "tbf" mentions, really got me smiling this morning :()
I was noticing Hymans post about hiring and I think my line of work would fall more under what your doing here...Do you need an assistant? HAHA! Sounds like an awesome tour. I have a very beloved friend Bill that looks so similar to you in that 3rd pic under the track. I feel very close to you now after this post......Beer & Bill, great memories.
poebegone says
ack! did i miss your absence because of my absence?! ): i suppose it's bye for now, however belatedly. touring beer pubs sounds like fun, Mike, and explains the homebrew you will someday share with Girlcrawl and me. ;p
ps. The Mary Onettes are so addicting, there was a time i could not stop listening to Lost from their latest album. good one.
Marigold says
Anna, I do not think I said you could not go. But do to logistical concerns and rather short notice. I believe it would have been a little tough for you to have made it to the states. right? But don't worry. I brought all of you moggers with me in heart so you were kind of there anyways.
Fistula, Railyard is great stuff. Can't aggree more.
TBF, Old Peculiar is awesome. That is a great beer and I have had the imported bottled version several times. I love that stuff. I look forward to the day we can enjoy it on tap as some English pub...I will make it to the UK someday. I have a friend in London who has offered to let my wife and I stay at her place if we can ever get over there.
Iren, We did not make it to Ann Arbor. We did make it to several breweries in MI though. We made it to Founders in Grand Rapids, New Holland in Holland, Bells in Kalamazoo, The Livery in Benton Harbor as well as a few other places. Michigan is great beer country...a lot of good beer is coming from there right now. MI has more going on beer wise then MN that is for sure. However, we have Surly and that stuff has been getting rave reviews all over the States as well as the world. ...maybe there is hope for cutting edge Minnesota beer. We do have some great brewpubs though.
Erin, YES! Wynkoop. That place was awesome. I only made it there a few times. But remember it well. Belgian Ales are great! Here is your beer mission then. You need to go to your local beer store (with a decent selection) and get yourself some Saison Dupont...good stuff if you have not had it yet.
Amber, Red hook...you got it. Seattle has a great beer scene and I would love to make it back there.
Sunshine, Glad you enjoyed the moggerfockers comment. I laughed while typing it. As for the assistant, you can be my Florida beer assistant. If I make it to Florida and you are around you need to line up a few breweries to go to and we will drink beer. It will be fun. The job does not pay well, but you can get a good buzz from it...and you cant beat that. :)
Disneyr, I aggree. Beer tourism is fun. That is why I do it so much with my wife and my friends whenever possible.
Poe, Yep, Drinking beer with fellow moggers is on my "must do" list. I have not had the pleasure of drinking and whooping it up with any moggers yet. I am sure it is just a matter of time. Yep, Mary Onnettes are great.
Girlcrawl says
Really thought I commented on this post, but apparently not...was having some MOG woes about this time, so not certain if that's why I failed to wish bon voyage upon your departure. Welcome back!
HelenMarie says
We've got some local flavors down here...south of the south (saying with an elevating enticing tone) That'd be truly sweet, anyway I have my mind gearing more towards lower standards of pay in exchange for happiness in the 45 hour workweek. : D
Nice to see you made it back safely.
Shud33 says
OMG Marigold! I am sooo jealous. All of that yummy beer!. I hope you drank enough for me too! Hey wait, I felt hung over last week, and I didn't drink...is this the reason why? Lol..
Marigold says
Sarah, yep. because of all of you moggers being with me in spirit, it gave me super human drinking powers to consume more beer then I would normally be able to consume. Unfortunatly, it meant that all of my trusted mogs might have suffered a little from un-intentional alcohol consumption. I can't be held responsible for any hangovers. You are all grown adults so you should know to have a asprin and a glass of water right before you go to bed, just in case a fellow mogger is tying one on.
