WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

Low Level Owls and other flying objects

Posted over 2 years ago
I have just recently bought the above pictured item. I own it on disc, but upon reading that it was being released on vinyl there was something nostalgic about owning this masterpiece on vinyl. (I still need a record player though...in due time, in due time) Appleseed Cast's Low Level Owl - Volume 1 and 2 are meant to be listened to as one long epic. This is a "record" in the sense of the word. These songs need the entire two volumes to really be appreciated. The sonic vibes that Low Level Owl bring are breathtaking. If you can, get this on the good stereo and crank it up with a bottle of wine or your favorite beer. If you have some spare time, read the reviews this thing gets....here is a link with track information and more sample clips as well as the reviews for it at the bottom of the link: http://www.deepelm.com/index2.htmlIf you collect vinyl this is one you might want to scoop up from www.deepelm.com, last I saw they only have 29 copies left.As for the tracks that I am uploading. In honor of the fact that this record is meant to be listened to in consecutive order, I have uploaded the first three tracks from LLO vol. 1 to give you a sample of what this release has in store.

  3. 1234chainsaw says Heh, clicking on a notification e-mail, I thought this was going to be a post about the band Low Flying Owls (yes, there is one). Since I'm here now, I might as well listen to the songs!

  5. Girlcrawl says Am so impressed with these guys - was familiar with the band's name, but not their music. Cool vinyl set! The tracks are lushly beautiful; listened to these whilst out on the deck watching a fabulous sunset, and the music was a perfect meld with the moment/view - gorgeous. Think the elm review said it best regarding Low Level Owl's overall sound: "twenty-six beautifully orchestrated songs appear on two separate volumes of lush melody, expertly paced dynamics and blossoming atmospherics... They (The Appleseed Cast) discover the sonic possibilities...the masterpiece in every measure. Each song nearly explodes at the seams, overflowing with symphonics, crescendos, swells of feedback and electronics." Am so glad you introduced me to this band, and will add Low Level Owl to the must have music list. Most excellent post! Found this video - love the song, and it's on the vinyl set as well:

  7. Marigold says Girlcrawl, thanks for the video, nice find. I was not aware that it existed. Glad to hear that you like them. Dompaczko, yeah. I think they quote international rates on the link that I provided above. Good luck! Doom, yep. it is pretty isnt it? Pekka, hope you like. It might be a little too atmospheric for you though. It has been multiplied if interested.

  11. poebegone says i have Two Conversations and Mare Vitalis. heard Peregrine many times but broke up with my now-ex before i could rip his copy. :D the LLOs, i don't have, but i'd bet they're fab, right? good crazy moody atmospheric stuff - hey, perfect soundtrack for an RPG!

  12. Marigold says Mare Vitalis is a great record. One of my favorites. Peregrine did not capture my fancy right off the bat. It took me a few listens to "get it" and I do like it quite a bit now. As for LLO....it is mandatory if you like Mare Vitalis or Two Conversations. LLO is n experience...not a record. :)
